SCS Treatment
Spinal Cord Stimulation is used most often after non-surgical pain treatment options have failed to provide sufficient relief. The procedure is performed by Dr Jaspreet Singh Randhawa under local anaesthesia or at times under short general anaesthesia. It is done in two phases, the first phase is the trial phase wherein Dr Randhawa would implant a temporary device for you to test out. Dr Jaspreet will carefully insert the electrodes in the epidural space of the spine with help of guidance through x ray. This just requires a small cut at the back for putting in the electrodes. After a week if patient feels significant relief in pain then the permanent procedure is done. The implant used here has three parts, electordes, a battery and a remote. The battery is placed underneath the skin and the trial electrodes are replaced with sterile electrodes. The remote is used by the patient to control the stimulation depending upon the intensity of the pain. Generally the patients are discharged the next day of the procedure.

However if you are a beneficiary of company given policy then the surgery is covered from day one. Some insurance companies do not cover this surgery under the guise of genetic disorder. Always go through the terms of your health insurance policy like room rent capping and co-payment to avoid any kind of financial shocks later on.
